Gary Channon – Phoenix Asset Management

Gary Channon is the Chief Investment Officer of Phoenix Asset Management Partners, the firm he co-founded in 1998. Since inception in May 1998, the Phoenix UK Fund has returned gross performance of 476% (versus the benchmark’s total return of 97%), an annualised return of 12.4% (versus the benchmark annualising at 4.6%). Gary’s investment approach at Phoenix is strongly influenced by Warren Buffett and Phil Fisher: long-term, value-based and focused, looking for great businesses run by competent, honest, shareholder-aligned managers, companies with strong pricing power, generating an enduring high return on capital, and waiting for the opportunity to invest in them at attractive prices. Prior to co-founding Phoenix, Gary was Co-Head of Equity and Equity Derivatives Trading at Nomura International and before that, he was at Goldman Sachs within Global Equity Derivative Products Trading.
